- Look for a company that has repeat customers.
- Ask what kind of training they receive. Ask if they are certified or members of a
professional group. (Some groups to look for include the IICRC
Referral Service, the United Carpet Cleaners Incorporated, Tri State Restorers &
Specialists in Cleaning and Restoration
- Get a written estimate.
- Be suspicious if by-the-room prices are used without measuring.
- Ask about furniture moving charges.
- Be wary of mileage charges.
- Extra treatment, such as protector and deodorizer, cost more.
- Manner and appearance should be professional.
- Your questions should be answered completely and pleasantly.
- The cleaner must understand warranty requirements.
- Be sure equipment is better than a low-powered unit you could rent yourself.
- If steam cleaned, carpet should feel only slightly damp after cleaning and dry
completely within 24 hours.
- Ask cleaner about the safety of chemicals used.
- Carpet should not suds if dampened after cleaning.
